Spanish banks that speak English can be helpful and may be essential to you if you need to do more complex banking operations. Even being able to read and do research or have your online banking in English could be really helpful for you. I’ve worked it out over the years with ING but it definitely could have been easier and after years of course I have no trouble now.
Below is a list of banks that are collaborators with both Seguridad Social and AEAT and a link to their English website if they have one.
Great so they speak English!
Well… it can also be true that a bank may have an English site but no English speakers available in certain branches or through customer service channels.
It’s also worth noting that English-speaking staff can sometimes be found even in banks without English websites. This is generally more likely in city-centre branches, tourist-heavy areas, or neighbourhoods with large international communities.
Finding English bank sites can be frustrating
Locating an English version of a Spanish bank’s site can be more complicated than expected. Common issues include:
No clear language switcher: it’s hard to find the language switcher on many of the bank websites: if you want to know if a bank has an English site google the name and English.
No automatic browser detection: a well designed site (ask me how I know!) will recognise your browser language setting and automatically switch you to that language for the site. This didn’t happen with many of the banks I looked up and I had to use google.
Partial translations when only certain pages or products are translated, and critical functions like forms or account management tools can remain in Spanish.

Observations from the list
Major national banks like Banco Santander, BBVA, and Bankinter offer English-language pages, but some require you to use a specific link rather than selecting a language option.
Regional and cooperative banks, for example, Cajamar or Colonya Caixa Pollença have made efforts to translate parts of their sites, which is useful if you are based in areas they serve.
International brands don’t always guarantee English access; Deutsche Bank’s Spanish site, for example, is only in Spanish.
Tips for autonomos choosing a bank
If you’re about to start your journey as an autónomo, here are practical tips:
Test online banking before committing, a public site in English doesn’t guarantee that the logged-in platform is translated
Check customer service, call or email to confirm if English assistance is available, or visit a central branch
