I moved from Melbourne to Barcelona where I’ve been freelancing and start-upping and through the wringer multiple times.
The transition from Australian government employee to Spanish freelancer has been… interesting.
I started a project with my accountant that ended up with us writing a handbook for foreign autónomos in Spain. The project didn’t go ahead in the end but it’s content that I wish I had access to when I first started. With her permisison, I’m publishing it here along with some other information I’ve learned along the way.

Although I have taken care with the content, it is for reference use only and laws can change. Double check the references. Speak to your gestor.
Don’t blindly trust ChatGPT or other AI tools, check source material. I will include links to AEAT and other official websites and have personally reviewed the information presented here.

It’s only in English, I do speak Spanish but I don’t have enough confidence in my technical communication.
If you’re wondering about the animals, I almost fell asleep researching stock photos of “business” so went with what I love <3
Yes I know how the URL reads. It’s a little play on words that makes me laugh. All the best with your business 🙂

I'm not a lawyer or an accountant and I won't be able answer questions that should be directed towards them. But if you feel like sending me a message, feel free 🙂
