Prodigi: Hopes

Prodigi has manual order approval, EU-based partners, & WooCommerce integration — all pluses for a print-on-demand business based in the EU.

My Prodigi hopes in this article. Why I chose them.

What made me choose Prodigi is:

  • Wide range of products
  • Printers in the European Union, UK, USA, Australia and Canada (but not all products from each location)
  • Woocommerce integration
  • Free mockup generator
  • WordPress/Woocommerce integration
  • Mockup available *sometimes* when designing
  • Free mockup for limited products on the site
  • Clean design and good copy on the website

Prodigi’s WordPress/Woocommerce integration

The way it works is:

  • You connect your website as a “Sales channel” through the Prodigi dashboard
  • Add/create a product in Woocommerce
  • This new product is automatically added to your Woocommerce sales channel in Prodigi
  • You can choose to fulfil through Prodigi or not (toggle button)
  • Set up Prodigi to fulfil the product. Choose product type and variations >> Add design >> Choose shipping
  • You can choose Prodigi to automatically fulfil the order
  • OR you can choose to manually approve every order

What I like about the Prodigi interface and dashboard

  • Updated quickly with every new product added to Woocommerce
  • Can easily toggle Prodigi to fulfill or not to fulfill products
  • Can choose to manually approve each order
  • Design process is intuitive

What I don’t like about the Prodigi interface

  • If you copy a product in Woocommerce, it creates it in the sales channel but doesn’t quickly update when you change the name and pictures
  • The product image doesn’t always update in the sales channel dashboard (at least for me, even after turning off my security plugin, stopping adblock etc, and relogging in)
  • This is not specific to Prodigi but you can’t set specific postage or choose suppliers for different products or customer locations
  • Can’t block locations that are too expensive to send to
  • Need to check where it is printed (sends from) to see if it’s suitable for EU customers
  • Samples can’t be bought from the sales channel from Prodigi – a separate manual order must be created (and designed) or it must be ordered through your Woocommerce website

In theory it is easy. In reality, you need to be aware of all the details of your product.

A “Prodigi Reality” review of my first order is currently being written.
